Play is Serious Work!
I just spent an entire weekend
learning to play at a coaching course.
I rode a camel, did cartwheels,
pulled treasure chests from the air
and became a slinky going down stairs.
It was a blast!!
Isn’t it sad that as adults we take classes
on incorporating play into our lives?
A five-year-old on a playground
does not need to train on playing!
It is not an after thought or something
that has to be squeezed in between appointments
or when all the work is done.
It takes courage to invite others onto the
playground,
especially when we encounter perceived resistance.
It takes a willingness to stop, be mindful
and take time to make play a priority.
Play invigorates and energizes us.
I invited a client to the playground this morning.
He used his creativity and imagination.
We had an adventure and he arrived at places
he would have never seen had we stayed with
traditional ways of doing things.
The energy was palpable and he felt alive!
I encourage you to let go!
Change your perspective and stand in playfulness.
Don’t worry; you can still discuss serious issues
in a playful way. How can you bring play,
creativity and fun into your life- both in and out of work?
In this playoff season,
the Bears and Colts
aren’t the only ones who can play!
