Leadership Tip

Foursome Fun Can Teach Team Tactics

I was on a terrific team
last week for a five-hour engagement.
Our mission was to have the lowest score
after playing 18 holes of golf.

The components that worked well were the following:

  1. Each person participated and contributed
shots throughout.  One person did not carry
the entire team (except on one hole)!
  2. We celebrated our successes when we
made birdies and an eagle.  We gave the
golfer's high five and I enthusiastically leapt
    off the ground!
  3. We gave each other advice on putting
and what clubs to use for different shots.
This support allowed us to get better and
    learn from each person's experience.
  4. We were accountable.
We had to use each person's drive and
play our own ball after a certain number of shots.
  5. We had fun!

These five ingredients are applicable to any team in any circumstance.
Their essence will sustain your group for much longer
than a round of golf!
