Leadership Tip

13 is a Lucky Number for The Saints

Having grown up in New Orleans
I am an avid Saints fan.
We have waited years for them
to have a season like this.
After decades of futility,
the team is 13-0.

What accounts for this miracle?
In addition to good luck,
the things that are making a difference
can be applied to your team.

1. Coaching

They have a head coach for whom
the players love to play.
They have a new defensive coach
who has brought new strategies.

Does your team have good coaches?
Does your team have strong leadership who people respect?
Does your team develop new strategies?

2. Many Go To Players - There is not One Superstar

They have many players who can make plays.

Does your team have several go to people?

3. Commitment to Winning

Drew Brees, the quarterback, practices tirelessly.
He is committed to excellence.
He comes through on the field.

Are all members of your team committed to excellence?
Do they set a winning example?
Do they come through when the team needs them?

4. Fan Support

The Saints' fans are rabid.
They are passionate about the team
and create an unstoppable energy.

Are your customers passionate about your team
and support you with buzz and referrals?

5. Risk Taking

The Saints have taken calculated risks
during the season when it has been
necessary to win.

Does your team take appropriate risks to move ahead?

No matter who your favorite team is,
we can all learn from the Saints' winning formula
and apply some of their magic to our own team.
Finally!!!
