Leadership Tip Congratulations Super Saints!! Last night magic happened in Miami. After 43 years of frustration and suffering, the New Orleans Saints won the 44th Super Bowl. They exhibited three characteristics fundamental to leadership. Build a Team Head coach Sean Payton brought together a group of players (mostly free agents) and coaches who worked tirelessly to collaborate and execute strategies. They built a family. In addition, he created an inspiring environment. Everyone was committed to winning. He believed in his players. Who is on your team? How are you strategizing and collaborating? Taking Risks The Saints played to win. They took risks, not all of which paid off. From going to a 1st down on 4th, to trying for a two-point conversion after the touchdown to the onside kick in the beginning of the 3rd quarter, They played to be champions. What kinds of risks is your team taking to succeed? Inspiring Others The team has inspired and brought together a city and a (Who Dat) nation. The energy and excitement is palpable. The murder rate in New Orleans is down. Groups who do not usually talk with one another have come together to celebrate the team. The Saints have united a community over a common goal. They have brought hope and pride and reinvigorated a city. They have shown that an organization can achieve beyond its stated purpose. What is your inspiring, common vision?
