Spring is Senseational
Spring is finally here.
The flowers are blooming
and
the colors are beautiful.
It is a visual feast.
I was at Magnolia Gardens
in Charleston, SC and the
azaleas,
wisteria
and camellias were blooming.
The scent was wonderful!
It was like being in a perfume factory.
We usually do not engage our nose
as often as our eyes and ears.
We think of what things
look or sound like.
However, smell is a powerful sense.
Think of chocolate chip cookies,
popcorn, freshly roasted coffee or
cinnabons. What comes to mind?
It can take us to past experiences.
It can evoke feeling.
It is based on our gut.
You know the sayings,
“There
is
something rotten in Denmark,”
“Stop and smell the roses,” and
“Something smells fishy.”
Think about your life.
You know what it looks like.
What does it smell like?
Does it smell like stinky shoes or
a freshly cleaned house with Pine Sol?
Is it like walking in the garden
or
behind a garbage truck?
We can
smell when things
seem right and when they do not.
When they do not smell good,
we do not feel in sync.
It is hard to ignore a smell.
Sniff around beyond how your life looks.
Clean up things that are rotting
so you can bring in wonderful fragrances.
